Democracy = 3 wolves + 1 lamb deciding what to have for lunch.

Of course the very day I received my absentee ballot in the mail I
find out that the presidential candidate I most wanted to vote for
has dropped out of the race. Darn. I knew it would happen. It
happened four years ago when I wasn't allowed to vote for Howard Dean.

The big global corporations that own all of our media decided that
Dennis Kucinich should not be heard in the debates. Isn't it lovely
of them to run our democracy for us? What would us sheep do if we
didn't have these greedy corporations to tell us what to think? Could
it be that they knew he wouldn't allow further deregulation of their
industry? I'm just so appalled at the way things are run here.

Now I have to decide between the remaining three. Sigh. I just can't
bring myself to vote for Hillary in a primary. Her Republican-lite
voting record is just too much for me. Obama inspires me, but I know
he can't win any Southern states in November. I know my people and
the South reeks through-and-through with racism. It stinks to high
heaven. I like the angry populist noises coming out of John Edwards,
but will he be able to take on the Republican slime machine and
survive being Swift Boated?

If Hillary gets in it would at least be fun to see her exact her
revenge on the purveyors of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. At the
same time I know she's buddies with Rupert Murdoch who runs the right-
wing propaganda machine called Fox News. Baby, I'm confused as hell.
I hate this democracy by bankroll thing.

And of course I'll vote for whoever the Dem's put up in November.
We've already been destroyed slowly for 8 years by the other guys,
and we have to start putting this place back together again.

Favorite Shot from a Gay Pride Parade

Each June my husband (husbear?) and I take our little
lawn chairs and walk down to Santa Monica Blvd. to
watch the parade. After slathering on a gallon of
sunscreen and donning my wide-brimmed hat I feel like
the last little-ol-lady of West Hollywood.

We took this picture after two loving hunks stood next
to us waiting for the next parade contingent. Love and
Levis. Sigh.

Bears invade the MSM

Oh dear Lord, I nearly drove off Magnolia Blvd. this evening on my way to pick up our dinner. National Public Radio's "Marketplace" aired a profile of Colossal Clothing, an apparel company for bigger men. Since they're not a group that traditionally hangs out together, the company's owner decided to market to the bear community. Bears! What?

Colossal clothing story on Marketplace.

It's one of the first mentions of bears I've heard in the Mainstream Media -- if you consider public radio mainstream.

First we're characters in a John Waters flick (see "A Dirty Shame") and now this! Where will it end? We're getting downright respectable. Soon a bear might be sitting in the oval office -- hopefully behind the desk and not under it. As the first bear president, I would declare three months of hibernation. Everyone take a nap and you'll all feel better in the spring.

Lucky 13

Joe. My. God. posted a hilarious story about life in the Castro. Check out "Revenge of Plan B" at: Joe. My. God..

My friends the actor and the animator took me to see "The Orphanage" Friday night. It's the rare time I go see a horror flick in the theater. The mind plays tricks on you when you're up in the middle of the night after seeing one of those. However, this was extremely well done and I knew exactly when to bury my eyes in my coat sleeve. Go see it if you have a fondness for that kind of stuff. It's well done.

My husbear still hibernates and it's already after noon on Sunday. Should I take his pulse?

New Year Blog

2008 got off to an unusual start last night. Who are the bears voting for? Is it Obama 08? Why don't any of the candidates have beards? Who is the bear for the job? When will a bear win the White House?

Sorry this blogger software doesn't seem to be working perfectly. I am unable to upload photos or images like I'd like. I'll figure this out someday. Maybe I'm using the wrong computer. We'll see.

Enjoy your weekends. What are you doing?
